We are several weeks into Epic VTT’s beta, and development is continuing as we work through repairs, test the platform, and prepare for public release.
Our goal is still to launch by December 1, 2026, and we are doing everything we can to reach that date. There is still work ahead, especially around the systems that protect campaigns and keep everyone at the table connected. December 1 remains our target, with final readiness depending on completing and verifying the critical work.
Where We Are Now
Epic VTT has been in development since February. We have built a browser-based virtual tabletop with tools for preparing campaigns, managing characters and creatures, organizing content, and bringing sessions to life.
The current invited beta gives us an opportunity to examine how those tools work together before opening the platform more broadly. A feature working on its own is only part of the job. We also need to check what happens when several people are connected, someone reloads or disconnects, an account changes, or a campaign is reopened after saving.
For DMs, the goal is to spend more time running the game and less time managing the software. For players, it is being able to join a campaign, interact with their characters, and enjoy a consistent experience with the rest of the table.
Our Current Repair Priorities
We are concentrating on the core systems that need to be dependable for public launch:
• Campaign loading and reloading, including returning to an existing game.
• Saving, persistence, and recovery, so campaign preparation and changes are protected.
• Multiplayer synchronization, including update ordering and reconnect behavior.
• DM and player permissions, account switching, and subscription access.
• Subscription and marketplace workflows, with continued end-to-end verification.
Several of these areas have already produced successful individual test results. Others still have incomplete checks or repairs that need further verification. We are keeping that distinction clear rather than treating a partial result as a finished repair.
Recent Progress
Recent isolated testing has verified selected permission, account-switching, campaign-access, appearance, and saving behaviors. Weather-related tests have also progressed through rapid updates, data-preservation checks, and restart scenarios.
We have identified problems in some of the testing tools as well. Correcting those matters because the tests need to accurately distinguish a platform problem from a problem in the test itself. Reliable results help us make the right repair instead of changing working application behavior unnecessarily.
Every repair is being approached non-destructively. Existing features, layouts, permissions, and campaign data need to remain protected. Changes, results, remaining issues, and rollback steps are being documented as we go. Local test results are also kept separate from changes that have actually been released to the live website.
What Epic VTT Offers
Epic VTT’s foundation includes reusable map and token libraries, custom uploads, and drag-and-drop compendium workflows to help with preparing characters and creatures.
Character and NPC sheets, initiative, dice, chat, and journals support the everyday needs of a session. Dynamic lighting, doors, windows, and weather give DMs more ways to build atmosphere and present their worlds.
Our focus now is making those existing systems work reliably together. Adding more features is not the priority while important repairs remain. We want the tools already available to feel useful and dependable when you are actually running a game.
Subscriptions and the Marketplace
Subscription payments have undergone successful testing, and the marketplace workflow is in place. We are continuing to verify the wider experience, including account access and the different payment and subscription lifecycle paths.
Epic VTT includes a free tier alongside paid options. Our storage policy is designed around the content users add themselves: uploads and custom-created content count toward their storage allowance, while system compendium content and marketplace purchases do not. Library storage is the limit rather than a separate arbitrary item-count cap.
The marketplace split remains 75% to creators and 25% to Epic VTT. Making purchasing, access, and creator workflows dependable remains an important part of our preparation for launch.
The Road to December 1
We are continuing toward our December 1, 2026 public-launch goal with our attention on critical repairs, verification, and a dependable experience for DMs and players.
The website’s invited beta and the full public launch are separate stages. During beta, updates and testing are ongoing. Before opening the platform more broadly, we need confidence that the essential campaign, multiplayer, and account systems are ready.
I have put months of work into Epic VTT, and I am looking forward to the moment more people can bring their friends, build their campaigns, and enjoy what we have created. I want that first experience to be exciting, while also respecting the time people invest in preparing and playing their games.
Thank you for supporting Epic VTT and following its development. There is still work to finish, but we are continuing to work toward that launch goal with care and determination.
