Cosplay Competition

The Cosplay Competition is a judged showcase focused on craftsmanship, creativity, and character presentation. This is a community-driven event open to convention attendees, with participation included in standard admission and no additional entry fee required.

Cosplay programming is built around attendee sign-ups. Participation levels directly influence scheduling and stage time, with higher registration allowing for expanded programming and showcase opportunities.

Cosplay Competition sign-ups follow the same process and times as Cosplay Comedy Skits. Initial sign-ups take place in person on Thursday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with an additional sign-up window available on Friday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM if slots remain open.

Judging will take place on Friday from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. During this judging event, contestants will be evaluated individually by the judges.

All registered cosplayers will participate in a featured Cosplay Walk of Fame held on Sunday from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, where contestants will walk the main stage, present their costumes, and exit to music. This gives attendees a full opportunity to view each cosplay in a proper stage setting.

Final results and announcements of the Top 3 contenders, along with any awards, will be presented during the Sunday 5:00 PM Closing Ceremony. Awards are currently under review and will be announced once finalized.

The Cosplay Competition is judged by a panel of three judges. Judges may include event staff or affiliated individuals with experience in tabletop gaming, fantasy themes, and character design.

Cosplays will be evaluated based on overall craftsmanship, level of detail, construction effort, creative and effective use of materials, character representation, originality, and overall visual impact. Extra consideration may be given for unique designs and inventive interpretations.

Judges for the first year are to be determined.

The Cosplay Competition is open to a mixed-age audience. While creative expression is encouraged, all participants are expected to maintain a respectful and family-friendly environment.

Profanity should be kept to a minimum. Explicit sexual gestures, nudity, or obscene behavior are strictly prohibited. Mild language or light suggestive humor may be permitted at organizer discretion, provided it remains appropriate for a general convention setting.

All cosplay props and costume elements must comply with event safety guidelines. Functional weapons, real firearms or ammunition, explosives, fireworks, pyrotechnics, sharp metal blades, hazardous materials, chemicals, or open flames are not permitted.

Prop weapons must be clearly non-functional and may be subject to inspection by event staff. Event organizers reserve the right to restrict or remove any prop or costume element deemed unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate.

D20 Con will be hosting a Cosplay Awards Showcase celebrating creativity, craftsmanship, and character portrayal.

While final judging details are still being determined, the following awards will be presented.
