Guest Comedy Overview
Guest Comedy is a live comedy showcase created and performed by convention guests. The audience is made up of tabletop roleplaying game and card game fans, so performers should expect a crowd that understands geek culture and shared table humor.
Skit content does not need to be about games. Stand-up comedy, silly acting, character-based humor, and short skits are all welcome. The goal is to have fun and make people laugh in a welcoming, community-driven environment.
Sign-Up, Rehearsal, and Show Schedule
Sign-ups take place in person on Thursday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM after arrival at the convention. Performance slots are first come, first served and are limited in number, with an expected maximum of 22 slots at approximately five minutes each.
If the minimum number of acts is not met, additional time may be allotted to performers who need it at the discretion of event staff.
Rehearsal will be held on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on the main stage. Rehearsal helps ensure proper timing, microphone setup, and smooth transitions between acts.
The Guest Comedy Show will take place on Friday from 3:00 PM to 4:50 PM on the main stage. Performers must be present and ready backstage when called, or their slot may be forfeited.
Performance Format and Stage Setup
Each performance slot is approximately five minutes long. Acts may be solo or group-based, and performers may include as many people as they wish in a skit. Only six microphones will be available on stage, so larger groups should plan accordingly.
Performers are expected to remain within their allotted time. Acts that run over may be politely cut off so the event can stay on schedule.
Content Expectations
This event is open to a mixed-age audience, including children. Light profanity is accepted but should be kept to a minimum. Vulgar, explicit, or pornographic comedy is not permitted, and performers should avoid sexualized or graphic material.
Comedy should remain inclusive and respectful. Targeted harassment or demeaning jokes aimed at individuals or groups are not appropriate for this event.
Acts that exceed time limits may be politely cut off
Safety, Props, and Conduct
All performances must be safe for performers, staff, and the audience. Dangerous stunts, risky physical comedy, throwing objects, mock combat, or unsafe props are not permitted. Performances must remain on stage at all times.
Simple hand-held props and costumes are allowed as long as they are safe, non-messy, and do not require stage modification or extended setup. Performers must follow all instructions from stage staff and event organizers. Any act deemed unsafe or inappropriate may be modified or removed from the lineup.
Recording and Media Notice
Guest Comedy performances may be photographed or recorded as part of the event. By participating, performers acknowledge they may appear in event media or promotional content.
